Photography and Image Policy
Consent, privacy and responsible use rules for photographs and images of students, staff and school life.
1. Purpose
This policy establishes clear guidelines for the appropriate creation, storage, and use of photographs and images within St. Joseph Integrated Secondary School. Rooted in our Catholic values and five foundational pillars, it aims to protect students and staff, uphold the school's reputation as a beacon of educational innovation, and promote a safe, respectful, and culturally sensitive environment that honours human dignity for all community members.

This policy applies to:
- All students, staff, and administration

- Anyone capturing or using images on school premises or during school-sponsored activities

4. Consent Requirements
4.1 Student Consent
- Mandatory written consent: for all students, a parent or guardian must provide signed consent before any images may be captured or used for purposes beyond normal classroom documentation
- Annual renewal: consent forms must be updated at the beginning of each academic year and filed with student records
- Specific use authorization: consent forms will specify permitted uses including school website and official social media accounts; printed materials (newsletters, brochures, annual reports); educational documentation and portfolios; media coverage and promotional activities; and MCSPA community publications
- Cultural and religious considerations: parents may specify restrictions during religious ceremonies or cultural events
- Right to withdraw: parents/guardians may withdraw consent at any time through written notification to the School Director
Signed photography consent forms are issued by the school at enrolment or on request; blank signature forms are not published on this website.
4.2 Staff Consent
- All staff, including teaching and non-teaching personnel, must complete a consent form indicating their preferences
- Staff may specify contexts in which they do or do not wish to be photographed
- Special provisions for religious sisters and MCSPA personnel according to their community guidelines
- Consent preferences will be recorded in personnel files and respected by administration
4.3 External Photographers and Media
- Must obtain written authorization from the School Director a minimum of 7 days before the visit
- Must provide credentials and purpose of photography
- Must wear visible identification while on campus
- Must always be accompanied by a designated school representative
- Must provide copies of all images to school administration before publication
